Residual limb fluid volume change and volume accommodation

Wearing a prosthesis leads to stump volume loss, regardless of the activity during wearing. It is the pressure of the socket wall that pushes blood, lymph and intercellular fluid out of the stump. The solution to stump volume loss is to regularly remove the socket wall pressure. This can be done by completely removing the prosthesis, which is rather cumbersome. A more practical solution is to make a socket in which the walls can be loosened, e.g. with the Revofit system.
